Take Pictures with Your Photo Scanner!
Anyone with a flatbed photo scanner can create great macro photography!
I recently discovered an amazing photo scanner technique for taking close-up pictures. I was leafing through a photography magazine ... the pictures in one article were so hyper-real, I was intrigued.
The process is called 'scanner photography', 'no-camera photography', 'scanner art' and 'scanography'.
Would my cheap Epson scanner work? I placed a branch, from a small tree in the yard, on the glass bed and hit 'SCAN'.
This is the result of my early attempt (no Photoshop) at Scanner Magic.
My first thought was to keep scanning flowers and plants. Then I realized:
You can scan anything that fits on the flatbed scanner glass!

A computer and a flatbed Photo Scanner are all you need!
If you can 'scan and save' a document, you can enjoy 'scanography'.
By now, if you're anything like me, you're thinking "there must be more to this." There is more, but not much more to get you started.
All of the images on this site were created by me with the equipment described herein. (I'm a person who struggles with software that is supposed to make a job easy!) If you're an experienced computer user, your Scanner Magic experience may be even more exotic and creative.
Fair Warning: Proceed with caution. Scanner photography may become habit forming.
