Fun Crafts with Pasta
Pasta can create both fun crafts and art. A few different boxes of pasta and scanner photography, may lead to some great ideas. When kids get involved, it may just go crazy!
For this project "partial" faces were drawn with a permanent marker on
acetate sheets.

Hold a colored paper above while scanning - makes the marker lines show clearly.

This is Ms. Pasta Curly Hair. Notice how her hair fits in the marker spaces.

I love Mr. Bowtie. His crewcut hair is broken pieces of spaghetti.

To Create the Above Compositions
- Draw circles or ovals for faces - directly on acetate. Remember to leave some space for hair or maybe ears.
- Place the acetate on the scanner glass. To avoid fingerprints, handle acetate by the edges only.
- Arrange various pasta pieces. It's okay to make several faces on one sheet. You can always "crop" them with your photo editor.
- Before you scan:
(With a black background, you will not see the marker lines.) So, hold a sheet of colored paper over (close, but not on) the arrangement.
More Pasta Possibilities for Fun Crafts
Pasta photos can also be Scanner Art.
Here you see an entirely different use of "Bow Ties".
Imagine a group of several framed pastas for your kitchen wall decor.
And speaking of art, there's another unique pasta photo on the
Black and White pictures page.
For more details and ideas on arranging items for scanner photography see the
Scanner Photo Composition page.
