Fun Crafts with Paper

Fun crafts often call for photos. Scanner photography of everyday things will appear amazingly sharp . . . from kitchen utensils to flowers and weeds. For amazing impact, include hyper-real photos for:

  • Original designs for doll houses - I'm renovating a doll house my dad made when I was 7. So far, I have used scanography as a "mural" in the living room.

  • Beginner or experienced, if you enjoy digital scrapbooking, read Eileen Bergen's journal My Introduction to Digital Scrapbooking.
    .
  • Altered arts use all kinds use fun crafts. Covering old coffee containers? Altoids boxes? or creating miniature trading cards? If you're using photos, include some Scanner Magic! David and Maria at Altered Art have some fascinating details for "Artist Trading Cards - Masterpieces in Miniature".

  • Gift wrap - Create your own for those special little packages!

  • Greeting Cards - You can make cards to compete with those sold in museum shops! Use scanography as suggested on the 'Make Greeting Cards' page.

  • Flyers for clubs or business.

  • Making Calendars - Everyone needs a calendar. Fun crafts for kids and adults. Use this link to find the perfect never out-of-date calendar grid.

  • Marketing - Instead of traditional business cards have 3" X 5.5" handouts printed on card stock. Use one side for your favorite scanned photo and the other for your message. Research has proven people are much more likely to value and keep a larger, more colorful piece of advertising. Use them as you would business cards. Everyone loves a pretty picture!

Have your cards done quickly and inexpensively at a site called Moo
    .

  • Bookmarks - Order the 3" X 5.5" handouts printed on card stock (as mentioned above). Add a decorative string or ribbon and you have bookmark to share with your reader friends and business associates.

OR you can do-it-yourself easily. Print out an 8 X 10 full page flower, candy or other scanner photo on heavy paper and cut it into 3" X 8" strips. (For nice even, smooth cuts use a paper cutter.) Cover each with laminate, punch a hole and finish with tassel.

    Scanner Magic makes spectacular bookmarks!
