More About Photo Scanner Photography

Weed vine, Weed photo, exotic flowers, scanner photography

Getting started in photo scanner photography is easy. It can get more technical as your curiosity grows.

This site is an introduction to scanography.

By now, many of you are trying to find that old flatbed scanner you stored away.

You are not alone.

There are over 100 sites on the internet exploring this unique photo technique.

Exciting, isn't it?

Some sites are, well, a little off the wall. Others are pure art. And then there are instructional sites.

Ready for More Advanced Detail?

Computer Savvy, But New to Scanography?

Experienced computer users may want to use advanced photo techniques and more sophisticated programs and equipment.

When I first discovered scanography, I searched the web to find others as fascinated as I was. It took me awhile -- I really didn't know what to call it or where to search.

I eventually found two scanography artists who were especially gracious about sharing their flatbed scanner experiences. I continue to learn from them and others.

When I found Patri Feher, I felt like I was finally getting somewhere. Patri spends days on end creating images, many from her beautiful garden. Her site, Black Rose Gallery, is full of detailed information. Her instructions will take you beyond Auto Mode.

The second scanographer I found was Vincent de Groot.

Vinc is a professional photographer who travels the world for amazing shots. He is also very willing to share his knowledge about scanner photography. His exceptional 'Food' scans are only surpassed by his very clear 'how-to' section.

Just Getting Started?

Attention Novices: After your 'Get Started' practice session, visit the sites listed above. if you missed the practice session, try Ten Easy Steps.

Another of My Favorite Scans

tomato picture, tomato flower, tomato, scanography,

Seeds for these miniature 'Everglades tomatoes' were delivered to my yard by birds.

They grew and fruited with no encouragement from me.

They're very tasty.

I placed a sprig on the glass of my scanner and this is the result.

The Scanner Magic site is full of ideas for using scanner photography. For just a few, take a look at 'More Uses' for some great ideas.

Visit every page of Scanner Magic so you don't miss any of my scanography examples.
